Receive notifications

Your Smart Doorbell can notify you on every movement in front of your house or even just when someone rings your chime. You can select the sound in the settings of the Gigaset elements app. For Android phones, it is important to turn off the "power saving mode" so that the Gigaset elements app can inform you about a visitor even when the app is closed. Please grant the Gigaset elements App to get data while closed otherwise you will not get the notification on door ring.  If you still receive the notification late on your Android phone, please contact the manufacturer, as each Android phone handles third-party notifications differently.

Currently, this feature works well on new generation Apple Watches. With Android Watches, it depends on the settings of the phone and smartwatch. Please try it out by allowing all Gigaset elements app notifications to the smart watch.

Enable notifications despite "Do not disturb" message

As of elements app version 9.1.2 (unfortunately, we have received a request from Google to deactivate the previous solution of "overwriting the ringtone").

But if you do not want to be disturbed by your smartphone in a meeting, for example, but still want to hear an alarm from your elements system, proceed as follows:

  • Please open the elements app and click on the 3 horizontal stripes on the top left and then on [Account].
  • In the following window, click on [Notifications], scroll down the page and click on [System settings].
  • Click [Notifications].
  • Click [Alert / Alarm] (do not click the slide switch).
  • Click [Advanced] and scroll down the screen
  • Turn on [Override Do not disturb].
  • Click [Sound] to select a notification sound.

This allows you to ignore "Override Do Not Disturb" for other events such as Homecoming.

However, the volume of the alert is tied to the ringtone volume.

Privacy mode

In user testing, we've found that people often forget to turn a Smart Doorbell back on. With an outdoor security  camera/doorbell,  it's crucial that you get the shots when needed. Therefore, we have decided that the Privacy Mode does not apply to the Smart Doorbell.
