Wedge
The Smart Doorbell should be mounted to point in the direction of the access/street. In many single-family houses, it is advisable to install the wedge so that the angle is larger and you can see more of the visitor. Please take the drill template and pay attention to the right holes for "wedge/wedge". The Smart Doorbell holder is then screwed directly onto the wedge.
Optimal doorbell height
It depends on where the delivery service waits after it has pressed the bell. In many cases, single-family houses have 1-3 steps in front of the entrance door (high floor) and there the 1.20m is enough to see the head of the visitor. If you don't have a big floor mat and a step in front of your house, it can cause them to see only the torso of the visitors. If the camera is pointing towards the street, the motion detection would send the first photo with "head" and when you speak, you would only see the belly. Of course, an electrician can simply hang the bell higher but many customers opt for the camera package.
Bell transformer requirements
"Please make sure that your bell transformer provides an output voltage between 8 and 24V and an output power of at least 10W. (The 8V/1A standard will also work as they deliver 9.6W usually.)
Often we only specify the output voltage and the maximum output current such as 12V 1A on the bell transformer. Here, output voltage x max. output current = max. output power applies. 12V x 1A =12W.
Volt | A | W | Suitability of the transformer for Smart Doorbell |
8 | 0,5 | 4 | 8V * 0,5A = 4W - will not be enough |
8 | 1 | 8 | 8V * 1A =8W - may still be sufficient |
8 | 1,5 | 12 | 8V * 1,5 A = 12W - perfect installation |
8 | 2 | 16 | 8V * 2A = 16W - is slightly over, but will work |
12 | 0,5 | 6 | 12V * 1A = 6W - is too low to operate the Smart Doorbell |
12 | 1 | 12 | 12V * 1A = 12W - perfect installation |
12 | 1,5 | 18 | 12V * 1,5A = 18W - The Smart Doorbell is only approved up to 15W |
12 | 2 | 24 | 12V * 2A = 24W - The Smart Doorbell is only approved up to 15W |
24 | 0,5 | 12 | 24V * 0,5A = 12W - perfect installation |
24 | 1 | 24 | 24V * 1A = 24W -The Smart Doorbell is only approved up to 15W |
24 | 1,5 | 36 | 24V * 1,5A = 36W - The Smart Doorbell is only approved up to 15W |
24 | 2 | 48 | 24V *2A = 48W - The Smart Doorbell is only approved up to 15W |
Power Kit Adapter
The electrician bridges the connections of the mechanical bell with the Power Kit Adapter. It is connected to the two connections where the bell wire is located. This is necessary because a mechanical bell only gets power the moment someone rings. However, the Smart Doorbell requires continuous power. Without the Power Kit Adapter, the Doorbell can get too much power and break.

Hire an electrician
You're probably wondering why you should consult an electrician. The answer is simple. Although the installation is very simple, the assessment and compatibility issues are too difficult for most people. So it is really easy for the electrician to check that the transformer can also drive a doorbell, or the old bell should be reconnected or whether perhaps the bell wire must be extended. All these topics can lead to a faulty installation for a non-specialist, which then leaves the customer with a broken bell or doorbell.
Connect your old mechanical bell
It is convenient that your bell continues to work when you are (temporarily) without internet. By connecting the smart doorbell to your existing bell (using the Power Adapter Kit), you are not dependent on a telephone battery or systems such as Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
