Security

The Smart Doorbell uses your internet provider's encryption so that it can communicate within your Wi-Fi network. You are always directly connected to your Smart Doorbell with your smartphone via P2P connection (Peer to Peer). When the data is sent from your internet router to our service, we use 128 bit SSL encryption.

Image quality settings

If you set the quality to "off", it will switch from FULL HD (1080p) to normal HD (720P) and less bandwidth will be needed for your Internet connection.

The image quality for the Liveview should only be set to Full HD ("on") if you are sure that your network coverage is sufficient. You need approx. 2 MBiT upload speed. Otherwise there will be interference in the live stream.

15 or 30 seconds videos

In conversations with security companies, we found out that the size of the videos is crucial when you pass them on to the police or a security company. Therefore, the recording is cut in 15 or 30 seconds videos.

Latency/Delay

Normally there is a very small delay of about 2 seconds in a peer-to-peer connection. If there is a lot of movement, the motion sensor will cause a delay of up to 5 seconds.

The "delay" in the language is directly related to your Internet connection. The Smart Doorbell requires an average upload of 2MbIT.  If the livestream has a delay, listen to when your message arrives at your visitor. This prevents them from talking at the same time, even though the first message has not yet arrived.

As with all WLAN products, the Smart Doorbell also relies on enough bandwidth available if you want to talk to the postman. So it may be that they receive the first delivery in the morning and can answer in a fraction of a second and have to wait several seconds in the afternoon. Since it is a direct connection P2P, it is really about the bandwidth of your WLAN router. If many consumers (teenagers) are currently using the Internet, the Smart Doorbell can have difficulty establishing a connection quickly.   Some routers allow the prioritization of devices – if possible, you should do so.

Microphone

This allows you to observe and listen incognito before deciding to speak to the person at the door.

If you stand behind the front door and want to talk to the doorbell there, there may be a feedback, because the doorbell must represent a certain volume. Please try the doorbell in real situation.

  1. Go out of reach – for example, in the garden and let a family member ring the bell. Open the Liveview and say the test sentance: just put it in front of the door or I'll come in 2 minutes
  2. Ask a family member to ring the bell when you are in the office and perform the same test.
  3. Quality will vary with your internet connection
