IP BASE - How to start capturing a PCAP-Trace and Syslog

For certain issues with VoIP telephony, the customer support may ask you to send us a PCAP-trace and/or Syslog data for further analyzing the behaviour described by the customer.

This article will help you to start and - after finishing capturing the data - download the needed file.

Please log into the webinterface of your IP BASE first. Open your favourite internet browser and enter gigaset-config.com. Your device will be shown within the browser. Continue by clicking the shown IP-address and entering your password into the logon page.

After you succesfully logged into the device click on the setting icon (gearwhell) on the bottem left corner. Then choose Service --> Diagnostics.

Scroll down the screen so that you can see the "System logging" and the "PCAP logging" entries.

Enable the remote syslog (1), enter a random IP-address (2) and click on the "Save" button(3).

Click on "Start" (4) to begin capturing. Now try to rebuilt the issue you described. After occuring of the mentioned behaviour click on "Stop" (5) and if "Download" (6) will highglight click on the button to get the file to be analyzed. Please attach the file to your ticket.
